The aim of processing is the optimal utilisation of blast furnace slag, which is an industrial side product of DK’s pig iron production. With modern processing technology, the cooled slag is separated into metallic and mineral components and further processed to intermediate products. With our magnetic separation systems, the metallic components can first be roughly separated from the blast furnace slag. The mixture is then crushed in two stages. Through further refining steps, fine non-magnetic, metallic and other parts are also separated from the slag. The iron elements are then returned to the smelting process. The remaining slag is crushed, sieved and mixed as required and offered in different grain sizes, for example as construction material and for the production of blasting abrasives.
